Juventus keen on re-signing Álvaro Morata - La Gazzetta
The Italian daily reports that the Old Lady are weighing up a bid for the Spain striker with Mario Mandzukic likely to leave Turin this summer.
Álvaro Morata could be set for a return to Juventus this summer with La Gazzetta reporting that the Old Lady are considering a bid to bring their former striker back to Turin from dethroned Premier League champions Chelsea.
Morata has endured a difficult second half of the season at Stamford Bridge and Juve are reportedly keen on injecting some youth into their squad ahead of 2018-19. It is also expected that Mario Mandzukic will leave the Serie A champions at the end of the campaign and Juve are looking into the possibility of renewing their acquaintance with Morata, who spent two successful seasons on loan at the Serie A giants from Real Madrid.
Juve willing to pay 50 million euros up front for Morata
Chelsea paid 80 million euros to sign Morata last summer and any offer from Juve will need to be somewhere in that region, although the Old Lady are reportedly preparing a bid of 50 million up front with several add-ons. Chelsea will probably not settle for less than 60 million euros but could be tempted to part with the Spain international if he forces the issue and if Inter striker Mauro Icardi, a reported target for the Premier League club, becomes available for a similar fee.
Morata may well be interested in a return to Serie A given that Chelsea cannot offer Champions League football next season and Juve represent a larger guarantee of trophy success than the London-based side. After a decent start to life in the Premier League, when he scored nine in his opening 14 league games, Morata has found the net just three times in 2018 and was left out of the most recent Spain squad by Julen Lopetegui.
