Gianluigi Buffon left Juventus at the end of the season after 17 years between the sticks in Turin and has yet to decide on his next venture in football, although the veteran keeper is not short of offers.

Buffon has stated he will not represent another club in Italy and PSG are prepared to pull out the stops to lure the 40-year-old to the Parc des Princes next season. The Ligue 1 giants are prepared to almost double Buffon’s Juventus wage, offering the keeper a salary of between seven and eight million euros per season, compared to the 4.5 million he pocketed in Serie A.

Buffon would also be practically guaranteed of adding to his impressive trophy cabinet at PSG, who are likely to reinforce further during the summer for a tilt at the Champions League next season – the one club honour to elude the Italy great.

“I still haven’t made a decision,” Buffon said last week. “I need a week to have a think about it and have a look at all the details. At 40 years old I have to make sensible decisions. Do I speak French? No.”

Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all been linked with various levels of interest in signing Buffon, but PSG are making the early moves for his signature.
