Liverpool have officially announced the signing of Fabinho from Monaco. The Brazilian midfielder, who had been linked with Atletico Madrid in the last few days, arrives at Anfield for a fee close to 50 million euros.

Fabinho will formally join the Merseyside club on July 1, following successful completion of a medical. The duration of the contract has yet to be finalised.

“I am really excited about this move. This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team. The infrastructures of the club look exceptional. A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over. I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club. I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history,” the four-capped Brazilian international told the club's official website.

Klopp finds Emre Can replacement in Fabinho

Monaco and Liverpool have agreed to a fee of 45 million euros, plus 5 million euros in add-ons, according to Sky sources. Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be glad to have found a replacement so quickly for Emre Can, who is expected to sign with Juventus in the coming weeks.

Fabinho, who had a brief spell at Real Madrid in 2013, opens a new chapter his career in the Premier League, after being a fundamental part of the Monaco team that reached the semifinals of the Champions League in 2017, along with Kylian Mbappé and Tiémoué Bakayoko, both of whom have since moved on from the club.
