Cristiano Ronaldo: Napoli turned down chance to sign ace - report
Corriere dello Sport says that Juventus' new signing was offered to Italian rivals Napoli following their appointment of Carlo Ancelotti.
Napoli reportedly passed up the chance to sign former Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the Italians' Serie A rivals Juventus on Tuesday.
Ancelotti's Napoli appointment prompts Cristiano proposal
Corriere dello Sport says that Cristiano's agent, Jorge Mendes, offered the 33-year-old to the Naples outfit in the wake of the Partonepei's decision to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their new head coach in late May.
Ancelotti, 59, has an excellent relationship with the Portugal captain, having worked with the player during a two-year spell as Real coach between 2013 and 2015.
However, concerns about their ability to afford the former Sporting CP and Manchester United star saw Napoli opt against attempting a deal, Corriere says.
Cristiano set for Juventus presentation on Monday
Cristiano is to be unveiled by Juventus on Monday after agreeing an Italian-record, 117-million-euro switch to the Bianconeri following nine years at Real Madrid.
