Juventus reportedly want Zidane and son Luca
According to Spanish media Libertad Digital, Juventus have proposed that Zidane return to the club as a consultant, along with his son and third-choice Real Madrid goalkeeper, Luca.
Zinedine Zidane waved goodbye to Real Madrid almost two months ago, after having led the club to their 13th European Cup title in May. His plan was to take somewhat of a sabbatical before returning to football, but if there is any truth to a report by Libertad Digital, it seems that he could return to the game sooner than expected.
According to information gathered by the online Spanish news site, Juventus have proposed that the Frenchman return to the club to take up a consultancy role this October. The proposed position would be as a link between the club’s directors and the squad, which now of course includes Cristiano Ronaldo, who was officially presented in Turin on Monday.
Apparently, Juventus’ idea is not only to hire Zidane, who played for the club from 1996 to 2001 before he signed for Real Madrid, but also to sign his son Luca. Luca is currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Real Madrid. But with arrival of Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, and the possible signing of Thibault Courtois from Chelsea, Luca’s future could be uncertain at the Bernabeu under new coach Julen Lopetegui.
Juventus deny claims
AS, however, has contacted Juventus, and a spokesperson has denied the claims, stating that the club have no intention of hiring Zinedine Zidane or his son Luca. The spokesperson added that the club already has ex-Juventus player Pavel Nedved in the consultancy role reportedly being offered to Zidane.
