Keylor Navas wants to renew his contract at Real Madrid

Costa Rican media claims that Navas has decided he wants to stay at the Bernabeu, despite the mooted arrival of Thibault Cortois.

With Chelsea’s Thibault Courtois tipped to be on his way to Real Madrid, Keylor Navas has been a main protagonist of transfer stories this summer. But according to Costa Rican daily La Nación, Navas has communicated his intention to renew his contract with ‘Los Blancos’.

While he has had offers to leave the Spanish capital, it seems his allegiance will continue to be to Real, despite the fact that the club may soon have a first choice keeper on route from Chelsea. Before the World Cup, Navas had started negotiations on his contract extension, which now look likely to be closed when he returns from holidays.

Lopetegui want Navas on board

According to the report by La Nación, the arrival of Julen Lopetegui has not changed anything, and the new coach, who tried to sign Navas while he was at Porto, was quick to contact him to tell him that he was part of his plans for next season.

The 31-year-old has two more seasons left on his current deal, and it is understood the board will offer to extend his contract by another two seasons, which would see him at the club until he is 35.
