Mariano: "Julen's call had a lot of influence in my decision"
Mariano was introduced as a Real Madrid player after spending a yeat at Lyon and said it is a challenge to wear the number seven jersey previously worn by Ronaldo.
Mariano Díaz was presented as a new Real Madrid player on Friday afternoon. The striker arrives from Lyon and spoke about how emotional a day it was to return to his "home". He says Lopetegui called him and "a big part of my decision had to do with him. He told me that he would be very happy if I came back."
"I've prepared some lined because I'm very emotional and nervous," said Mariano. "Today is a very special day. I return home and I can just say thanks. Thanks to the club and to the manager and the president, Florentino Perez, for giving me the chance to wear this jersey and to make up part of the best club in thw world. Thanks, president. Thank you to my family, my agents, all of the people who have supported me in every moment, you have made this possible. I am very excited to share the dressing room with great players and teammates."

On wearing the number seven jersey, which he inherits from Cristiano Ronaldo, he said, "It's a challenge and a source of pride to wear the number that legends like Butregueño have worn."
