World Cup 2026 Group G: Standings, results, and who can qualify
With just the one matchday to go, Belgium, Egypt, Iran and New Zealand are all in the mix for round of 32 qualification.

Group G looks to be the most open group at World Cup 2026 after two rounds of matches. No team has qualified, no team has been eliminated, and all four nations still have a realistic path to the round of 32.
Egypt took control of the group by defeating New Zealand 3-1 in Vancouver, securing the country’s first-ever World Cup victory. Mohamed Salah played a key role as the Pharaohs recovered from their opening draw with Belgium to move onto four points.

Earlier in the day, Iran and Belgium played out a tense 0-0 draw in Los Angeles. Belgium dominated possession but could not find a way past goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand, who produced a string of outstanding saves. The Red Devils also finished with 10 men after Nathan Ngoy was sent off in the second half. The Iranians then left a note.
That leaves Egypt alone at the top on four points, while Belgium and Iran sit on two points apiece. New Zealand remains alive despite its defeat and could still qualify with a win in the final round.
Everything now comes down to the final matches on June 26. Egypt face Iran in Seattle, while Belgium take on New Zealand in Vancouver. With only two points separating first and fourth, Group G could yet produce a dramatic finish.
