Real Madrid to complete Palacios transfer within the next week
Sources who are closely involved in the operation claim that River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios will seal his move to Real Madrid in the next few days.
Exequiel Palacios will be a Real Madrid by the end of next week, AS has been told by sources close to the operation. The River Plate midfielder will take part in the Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors on 24 November and his transfer to Madrid will be announced shortly afterwards.
Talks set to continue
In declarations to América TV, River president Rodolfo D'Onofrio has maintained that no deal has been struck yet although Madrid have been holding talks with the Director of Sport at the Argentine club, Enzo Francescoli.
Palacios, 20, is one of Muñeco Gallardo's star players and has attracted interest from several, top European clubs. However, in the back offices at the Santiago Bernabéu, the general consensus is that negotiations over the coming days will be fruitful. Palacios possesses a powerful shot and is comfortable playing in several positions in the final two thirds. In just a few months he has shot to prominence in the South American game as one of the most promnising talents in the continent.
