Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi has ruled out a move to Real Madrid in the near future and underlined his commitment to the Nerazzurri.

The Argentine, 25, is a target for several clubs in Europe and, with Madrid on the lookout for a striker capable of replacing Cristiano Ronaldo's goals, is a name that figures high on the European champions' shopping list.

Not the time to leave Inter, says Icardi

"Interest from Madrid? I don't think it's the right time to leave," Icardi told an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport this weekend. "Given the results we're getting, it's not a good time. I'm very happy where I am.

"I wanted Inter to get back into the Champions League, and we managed it," he also said. "Now I want to win something with this club. Renewing my contract? When the right time comes I'll do that; there's still plenty of time."

Icardi has been on Madrid's radar for several seasons. He was heavily tipped for a move to the Bernabéu last term amid question marks over forwards Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, and the pair's inability to make up the goalscoring shortfall left by Ronaldo's summer exit has this year led Los Blancos' fans to urge the club to add a top-class marksman to their squad.

Inter Milan's goalscorer-in-chief

Inter's stand-out star, Icardi is a player who Inter are desperate to hold onto at all costs. Having hit 29 goals in 34 games last season, he has scored seven in 10 Serie A appearances this term, adding three more in the Champions League.
