Ramos gets his hands on Modric's Ballon d'Or: "Where's mine?"

The Madrid captain took advantage of the midfielder's show-and-tell at Valdebebas to joke about when he would win one after coming 21st in the voting.

Ramos gets his hands on Modric's Ballon d'Or: "Where's mine?"

Luka Modric took his Ballon d’Or into work on Tuesday to show the 2018 gong to his teammates and Sergio Ramos couldn’t resist the opportunity to joke when he was handed the France Football prize for a look: “And when am I going to get mine?”

No defender has won the Ballon d’Or since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006 and closest one came to the podium this year was Modric’s teammate, Raphaël Varane, who was seventh in the voting.

Ramos, who has never been in the top three despite winning every trophy in the game including the World Cup in 2010, came in 21st place this year but took his lack of recognition in good humour, posing with Modric’s Ballon d’Or and poking fun at himself.

The Real Madrid captain, who did not attend the gala as he is recovering from a shoulder problem, congratulated Modric, with whom he shares a warm relationship off the pitch: “All my respect, Ballon d’Or: Well done, Lukita!”
