Marcelo out of Real Madrid’s game against Huesca

Solari, with Reguilón injured, is forced to improvise for the trip to Huesca for matchday 15 of LaLiga 2018/19.

Update:

Solari won’t risk Marcelo in El Alcoraz. Real Madrid’s coach has decided against including the Brazilian in the 19 footballers who will travel to Huesca for Sunday afternoon’s LaLiga encounter.

The left-back was training with the group before the Melilla match in the Copa del Rey, having apparently overcome his thigh strain, but Solari is looking to the Club World Cup and has decided against risking him.

Solari's plans with Marcelo out

In fact it was against Melilla that the Argentinean coach tried out the experiment it looks like he may repeat against Huesca, playing Odriozola in his natural position and moving Carvajal to the other side. A solution that fits given Reguilón is out.

The absence of Marcelo is the big news ahead of the match at El Alcoraz, where, alongside Carvajal and Odriozola there will be four other defenders (Vallejo, Ramos, Varane and youngster Javi Sánchez) along with Modric, Valverde, Marcos Llorente, Asensio, Isco, Ceballos, Benzema, Lucas Vázquez, Vinicius and Bale.

Bale has been struggling all week with an injury niggle, but he’s sneaked into the list, just as Asensio, Isco and Vinicius are putting the pressure on for a place. This Sunday will mark 100 days since Bale’s last goal in LaLiga, on 1 September, against Leganés.

Kroos and Mariano are both out injured.
