Wanda Nara "reading over" Icardi's new Inter contract
Wanda Nara, wife and agent of Mauro Icardi, confirmed on Twitter she's reading over his new contract, making a speculated Real Madrid move highly unlikely.
Speculation linking Mauro Icardi with a January move to Real Madrid had heightened over the past few days, but it seems that Inter plan on keeping their star striker for the foreseeable future.
On Friday night, Wanda Nara, wife and agent of Icardi, confirmed in a Twitter message that she was currently reading over the documents of his new contract with Inter.
“It’s 00.30 and I’m still here reading over the pages of the [contract] renewal,” said Nara on her Twitter page, a message that went viral within minutes and became the headline story on the main Italian sports news websites overnight.
Beppe Marotta could have helped to speed up negotiations
The arrival of Beppe Marotta as new sporting CEO some days ago could have helped to accelerate negotiations between the club and the player. For years, Marotta had tried to sign Icardi during his decade at Juventus, and his overseeing of the completion of Icardi’s new deal just days after joining Inter would be a great signal to everyone involved at the club still reeling after their Champion’s League exit on Tuesday.
The Argentinean’s current five-million-euro-a-year contract expires in 2021 and has a 110-million euro buyout clause. His new deal is expected to increase his annual salary to between seven and eight million euros but may not include a buyout clause, which it is not compulsory in Italy.
With Icardi and his extended family comfortable in Milan and strongly connected with Inter, it is likely the Argentinean will sign the new deal, once his wife and agent has finished reading it over.
