Inter vice-president Zanetti hits back at Wanda Nara over Icardi contract talks
Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has asked for respect in contract negotiations between the club and Mauro Icardi and his wife and agent Wanda Nara.
The drama surrounding Mauro Icardi’s contract renewal with Inter Milan continues, as vice-president Javier Zanetti becomes the latest from the club to give a response to the player’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara, in which he criticized her attitude during negotiations.
“It’s a question of respect. Each person must respect their role. The most important thing is that Mauro is happy, and, by the way he demonstrates his quality, he is,” said Zanetti to Italian radio station Radio Deejay.
Zanetti is not the first director from the club to send a message through the media about Nara’s approach to negotiations. On Tuesday, sporting director, Piero Ausilio, said he didn’t like to play out the issue on social media and stated that the club had already presented a renewal offer to Icardi “two months ago, which, at that time, Mauro didn’t accept.
Mourinho had trouble managing the dressing room
Zanetti, who was on Radio Deejay to promote his new book, also spoke about former Inter coach Jose Mourinho’s dismissal from Manchester United.
“Mourinho is still a great coach. Like at Madrid, at United he was going well because he won trophies, but then came the difficulties in managing the dressing room. All coaches go through bad times, but knowing him, I know that he will want to get back to the top as soon as possible,” said Zanetti, who, as a player, won the Champions League title in 2010 with Inter under Mourinho’s direction.
