The long running saga connecting Ajax Amsterdam player Frenkie de Jong to a move to FC Barcelona appears to be in the final stretch.
Television show El Club de la Mitjanit (Esport 3) affirm that negotiations between both sides are at a very advanced stage with developments expected to be announced on January 12 as everything pointing to the Catalan club confirming the acquisition of the Dutch player.
Private jets
The battle among some of the biggest clubs in European football to secure De Jong's services has become somewhat celebrated and reflected recently by director of football at the Dutch side Marc Overmars claiming that private jets belonging to the likes of PSG, Bayern and Manchester City (where Guardiola has become an ardent admirer of the midfielder) almost brought Schiphol airport to a standstill last year.
A price tag of 75 million euro is set to be enough for the 21-year-old to, for the moment close time at Ajax and embark on a new journey with the Spanish league club who at present seemed to have cooled off on the idea of bringing team-mate Matthijs De Ligt to the Catalan capital.
