Celta Vigo: Iago Aspas to return against Getafe
The Spain international has been out of action since 22 December after suffering a calf inury in Camp Nou during which time Celta have lost five.
After a month and half on the sidelines, talismanic Celta striker Iago Aspas will be available for selection this weekend as Miguel Cardoso continues his struggle to keep the Galicians out of relegation trouble.
Aspas suffered a calf injury against Barcelona in Camp Nou on December 22 and hasn’t featured since, with Celta racking up five consecutive defeats in his absence before a 1-0 victory over Sevilla last weekend lifted Cardoso’s side out of the relegation places.
The initial prognosis was the Spain striker would be out for five weeks, but the injury flared up again just as he was set for a return against Valladolid two weeks ago.
Aspas still highest Spanish scorer despite injury
Despite missing the last six weeks of Liga action, Aspas remains the highest national scorer in the division with 10 goals this season, one ahead of Roger (Levante), Borja Iglesias (Espanyol) and Raúl de Tomás (Rayo Vallecano).
Last season Aspas topped the charts for Spanish players in LaLiga with 22 league goals, which earned him a place in Spain’s World Cup squad ahead of Álvaro Morata.
