Achraf's value soars
Real Madrid's on-loan right-back is having a fine season with Borussia Dortmund, with his transfer value nearly tripling since his move.
Achraf Hakimi is one of this season's sensations in the Bundesliga. The 20 year old left back, on loan from Real Madrid, has become one of the pillars of his team and a break-out star of the German league. The youngster's performances under the orders of Swiss coach Lucien Favre have seen his market value rise unstoppably and it is now over three times higher than it was when he moved from Madrid. According to Transfermarkt, Achraf was worth 7.5 million when he left the Bernabéu and he is now valued at 25 million.
Achraf in fine form in Germany
His most recent fine performance was on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the German cup. The right-back scored a goal in the 113th minute to make it 3-2 and potentially put Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals, his good work came to naught in the end though, with Werder Bremen equalising before going on to win the penalty shoot-out. But defeat notwithstanding, Achraf was one of the men of the match.
Achraf's importance to Favre's plans can be seen from the fact he's the fifth most utilised player in the team, having played 1,863 minutes (21 games), more than the 1,315 he played at Real Madrid in the whole of the season before.
Achraf has responded to the faith in him with three goals and seven assists. October and November were his best months, winning the best debutant in the Bundesliga. He's on loan through to 30 June 2020, although he's currently not thinking about a return to Real Madrid.
