Thibaut Courtois gave an interview published in today's edition of ABC in which he spoke about his decision to sign for Real Madrid among other topics.
Dream come true: "I don't know any player that wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid. I was really happy at Chelsea, I felt completely integrated at the club and I had great team mates. Zero problems. But Real Madrid came knocking and obviously when Madrid show an interest, it's the biggest call you can get in football".
Ribbed about 2014 final
Dressing room banter about the 2014 Champions League final: "Of course there were a few jokes by the lads about that final. I've always given the best of myself wherever I have been and now I am giving my best for Real Madrid".
Atlético fans throwing toy rats: "Well, that was just a lot of hot air more than anything else. I've always been very respectful to all fans from rival clubs and naturally, I am going to be respectful to Atlético fans. I have no hard feelings at all about that. I spent three years at Atlético and I gave the best I had to win the trophies that we won".
Relationship with Keylor: "It's about developing your own work as part of a whole in which every component has to be able to function freely. Each player in the squad depends on the others. My relationship with Keylor is very good. He's a great keeper and I feel happy having a player like Keylor in the team. Where others see problems, I see solutions because the team has good players in every position".
Cristiano's departure: "He's a living legend at Real Madrid. The club's most recent history has been written, in the most part, with the goals he scored. I suffered facing Cristiano as a rival and he's a brilliant player but at Real Madrid I'm reminded of an old Santiago Bernabéu phrase which I am in agreement with - that 'No player is more important than all of the others'".
LaLiga, Copa and Champions League
Aspiring to win the treble: "I'm not in any doubt at all - Real Madrid aspires to win every competition it plays in. The proof of that can be seen in training every day. We have a well-balanced team and some of the best players in the world in their position. I don't know one single professional in the game who, with their hand on their heart, thinks that Real Madrid won't be in the battle for every competition we're in. Everyone in the squad aspires to winning the lot. And we've already won the Club World Cup".
Solari getting Madrid back on track: "We were exactly the same when Lopetegui was coach - the only difference was that things weren't going our way. These are just things have no explanation in football. Sometimes things take a radical change when a new coach comes in"
