REAL MADRID 1-GIRONA 2
Solari asked if LaLiga is a lost cause: "Not at all..."
Solari refused to criticise Marcelo and said it is the whole team's responsibility all over the field and he says that they should have killed the game earlier.
Santiago Hernán Solari analysed his side's defeat at the hands of Girona in an interview after the game. The Argetine said his side suffered due to their fatigue over recent weeks.
What happened? "We weren't decisive, we didn't close out the first half when we had the chance and the second half we lost energy. We tried to win it with the changes and we couldn't. Girona played a very good second half, very serious and they scored twice."
Overwhelming in the middle of the field: "We came through a difficult spell, we came with speed but we paid for the efforts. We tried to overcome it, to be more fresh with the changes but we couldn't."
The team suffered on the left: "Football is a collective sport and the field is covered by all the players."
Absence of Modric being key: "It's always a cliche to think about the one who isn't playing. We have to stand up for ourselves. It's a dressing room with great player. It didn't work out and that's it."
Confidence: "The opponent did their work and they did it well. We didn't achieve being sufficiently ahead in the first half and in the second half, it cost us, above all the first half an hour and that cost us the game."
Is there a league title race? "Always. We have to get to out feet quick and continue. We have the three competition open for ourselves. There are a lot of game left and we will continue fighting for every title."
Later, in his press conference, he expanded on some of these points.
Sensations after the game: "We missed out on very important points with our direct rivals winning their games. It's a pity because we came into it with a very good run. Our opponents are three points further away and that's the way it is."
Tiredness: "It's not just a physical thing but mental, a concentration thing."
Ramos' sending off: "It's something that comes with the job."
Playing the same XI again: "It's an impossible question. We can't talk about hypotethical things in the past. We could have always done something else, losing and winning."
Is the league lost? "No at all, we will keep fighting on all three fronts that are open for us. Nezxt week, we have another game. It will be difficult too like all of them. The league table isn't important. Today confirmed that. We have to keep trying to win to cut the lead."
