Saturday was an evening of mixed emotions for Barcelona player Kevin Prince Boateng. The Ghanaian was handed his second start since joining the club in January against Valladolid, and said after the game that he was currently living a “dream” by becoming a Barcelona player.

His dream, however, quickly became a nightmare when he arrived home after the game to find he had been burgled.  Some opportunistic thieves seem to have taken advantage of the fact that the footballer was at Camp Nou for the game against Valladolid to break into his home and make off a with a valuable loot.

According to the report filed with Barcelona police, the value of the stolen items - which included jewelry, designer watches, cash, amongst other items - was as high as 400,000 euros.

The incident put a dampener on the celebrations over his second start for Barcelona, in which he put in an under-par performance, missing three decent opportunities to score his debut goal for the LaLiga champions. His debut start in the first leg of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla was also a poor one, with Los Hispalenses beating Barca 2-0 at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium. Although, Barcelona managed to win 6-1 in the return leg to secure their place in the semi-final.
