Solari and Ramos call for unity in pre-session meeting
The squad held a reunion before Monday's session in Valdebebas. The chat lasted 40 minutes with Solari and captain Sergio Ramos addressing the key issues.
Real Madrid waved goodbye to two competitions last week after the two Clásico defeats to Barcelona. Once again, the Champions League is the only tournament left in which Los Blancos can save their season. Yesterday, the squad held a meeting in the changing rooms at Valdebebas before the morning training session - the last workout ahead of tonight's crunch match against Ajax. The meeting lasted around 40 minutes. Santiago Solari and captain Sergio Ramos were the most vocal during the reunion, addressing some of the most pressing issues affecting the squad.
Positive message
Solari and his team are fully aware that the team has hit the lowest point of the campaign after being eliminated from two competitions in a matter of days. That's why the coach and captain decided to get the players all together before tonight's game against Ajax - one of which the season could hinge. "There were no criticism or finger pointing, just the message that unity is needed now more than ever. The chat was positive and constructive", was the reaction from within the group.
In theory, Madrid have six Champions League games ahead of them to make history should they lift the trophy for the fourth time in a row. Solari and Ramos made a point of highlighting that fact to drill home just how important the challenge ahead of them will be. Solari is hoping that no one disconnects from their obligations during this critical part of the campaign and that all of the players step up in the quest of the one objective left - the Decimocuarta.
