There has been total silence at the club this Monday regarding the future of Santiago Solari, who could still be fired this afternoon.
The future of Solari remains up in the air.
Following the defeat to Ajax last Tuesday, it was reported that Solari would remain as coach until Monday (today). But as it stands, nobody at the club has confirmed whether or not he will finish the day as coach of Real Madrid.
The day started strangely at the club’s Valdebebas training ground, as the players had to go to training on a day that they would normally have free. Without a mid-week fixture (they don’t play until Saturday), the usual routine would have been to have Monday free to recover after Sunday’s game. However, the players all attended training, although Solari has not yet said goodbye to them.
Meanwhile, the club are following the same line as Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations, yesterday: they will neither confirm nor deny his continuity. That shows that Solari's future is more up in the air than ever. If they are going to dismiss him, the club will confirm it this afternoon, so as to not prolong the agony.
