Pochettino: "I don't feel like I missed the train to Real Madrid"
The Tottenham Hotspur manager was linked to the Real Madrid job but says he is happy where he is as his side gear up for a Champions League quarter-final.
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, says he doesn't feel like he missed the train to Real Madrid and that he is happy where he is with four years left on his contract.
"99% of my colleagues might disagree," he said. "But I think differently and I try to enjoy the day to day and not think too much in the long term."
The Argentine was linked with a move to Real Madrid during the summer before renewing his contract with Spurs, who are getting ready to open their new stadium in London. After the sacking of Julen Lopetegui, he was mentioned again and with Solari leaving his post, his name cropped up yet again but he says he is happy where he is.
Pochettino, who managed Barcelona rivals Espanyol, says he believed Ernesto Valverde's side are favourites for the Champions League. "If there is a favourite for the Champions League, it's Barcelona," he said when asked about a hypotethical final.
"They have plaeyers at a top, top level, more than Leo Messi, who is a genius, the best in the word," he said.
