Real Madrid's Belgian keeper missed the final training session before Sunday's game against Huesca.

Things are going in Keylor Navas' favour right now. Real Madrid's Costa Rican keeper has seen his status rise with the return of Zinedine Zidane and now his rival for the goalkeeping jersey at the club, Thibaut Courtois, has returned from international duty with injury issues.

Courtois out with tendonitis

Courtois didn't train on Saturday ahead of Real Madrid's LaLiga match on Sunday against Huesca (20:45), just as he missed Friday's session, and Real Madrid's medical department have now confirmed that he is suffering from "tendinitis in his right rectus femoris", with the rectus femoris being one of the muscles in the quadriceps, the powerful group of muscles on the front of the thigh. As is standard for Real Madrid, the did not specify how long he would be out for.

Zidane said "Courtois isn't ok, that's why he didn't train, it's his right rectus femoris, he's got a niggle and we're going to look at it now. We'll see exactly how long he'll be out for. It's a question of days but he won't play tomorrow".

Tough times for Courtois

This injury comes at a difficult time for Courtois. His performances have been questioned, particularly in the elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Ajax, and his off-field behaviour also isn't helping. Keylor Navas now finds himself in prime position at the club for the season run-in, although Zidane has said that his aim is for everyone to play, including his son Luca, the third keeper...
