"James has to leave Bayern Munich"
Effenberg, the former Bayern player, says James has to leave the club if he is to weigh up his personal situation and be happy playing football again.
James Rodríguez must leave Bayern Munich according to Stefan Effenberg, the legendary former player. "If he evaluates his personal situation at Bayern, he will realise that the best thing for him to do is leave the club," says Effenberg.
"James has to leave," he says with four games left in the Bundesliga and with Bayern closing in on the title. The Colombian has played sparingly in the last month and is not happy with Bayern's lack of trust in him. He has to "enjoy playing football," says Effenberg. "That's lost when he only plays seven, 12 or 15 minutes."
The German says maybe he has to reorientate himself completely after the same thing happened to him at Real Madrid. He fell out of favour under Zinedine Zidane and left for Bayern on a two-year loan deal with the option for them to buy him for €42 million after two seasons.
Bayern have to communicate to Real Madrid before the 15th of June as to whether they opt to buy the player with the club's board reportedly torn over whether to pick up that option. It is becoming increasingly likely that Bayern will say no to that option and he will return to Spain where Zidane awaits, a manager who has shown he lacks faith in the player and is not in his plans.
