Zidane claims Gareth Bale's Real Madrid situation is clear

In his post-match press conference following an emphatic win for Real Sociedad, Los Blancos' manager responded again to questions about the Welshman.

Zinedine Zidane appeared, as usual, in front of the cameras after yet another disappointing result, although going down to ten men was a factor in that. A trip to Anoeta can often prove tricky and the 3-1 loss to hosts Real Sociedad further highlighted the work that is required ahead of next season.

Zidane remains positive despite another loss

The French coach felt that it had been a decent effort from his side in their penultimate game of the 2018/19 campaign, and gave his responses to questions on Marcelo, Bale, and his goalscorer in this game, young Brahim Díaz.

"It's a shame because we played well today," Zidane began. "Even playing with ten men we had opportunities, but for us it's better that it is over."

Talking about Brahim the coach described him as 'a good and interesting young player' and commended him on a positive performance. "We will see what we do with him next year, but for the moment he has had pitch time and has done well."

Asked about the future of Marcelo Zidane was also very positive.

"Marcelo is one of this team, of Madrid. He is an important player and I want us to get back the best version of Marcelo. Little by little he will rediscover that."

As expected, it didn't take long for journalists to ask about the under pressure Welshman, Gareth Bale.

"Will Bale be involved against Betis?" came the question in reference to the season's concluding game. "I'm not sure," replied Zidane. "We'll see next week if he is."

"But is he fit?" was the follow up. “Yes," clarified the coach, "it's very clear what I've done this weekend. Next week we'll see what I do, and also what happens next year. That's it!"

AS has been told by sources close to Bale that he is baffled by Zidane's recent treatment of him. Time will tell how this saga plays out.
