Madrid, just like other big teams, are all about cycles. That was the view of former coach Mourinho, who wants to return "stronger than ever".

José Mourinho spoke with Noemí de Miguel ahead of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. As well as giving his views on the big race he also found time to share his thoughts on footballing topics, including the current situaton at his former club Real Madrid.

Mourinho on Real Madrid struggles

"They have changed their coach," he pointed out following the moves between Julen Lopetegui, Santiago Solari and then a return for Zinedine Zidane on the Santiago Bernabéu bench. "They will make a big investment [in the transfer market this summer]."

"There have always been cycles at Real Madrid. In the big teams there are always cycles. They [Madrid] started one a few years ago and they ended it with the most recent Champions League.

"Now they will sign, sign well, and they will have fantastic players to go forward," he seemed to assure fans.

When asked whether or not he could see himself getting involved in a new Mourinho-Real Madrid cycle, the Portuguese manager did not want to give too much away.

"I'm talking about a new cycle with the new coach. Let's not talk about hypothetical cycles."

Regarding returning to another club's bench, Mourinho didn't give anything away either.

"I'm not going to choose just for the sake of it, just to say I have a club. I want to come back stronger than ever.

"I've had some offers, but we'll see what happens."
