Klopp takes a dig at Guardiola's Champions League record
Klopp says Guardiola has to be happy with the Premier League title because of his poor record in the Champions League and inability to get into the final.
Jurgen Klopp took a not-so-veiled swipe at Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City manager said the Premier League title was a bigger deal than the Champions League.
"Pep has to say that (winning the Premier League is more important than Champions League) as he hasn't been in the Champions League final for a while," said Klopp.
"He is a great manager and deserves all the praise he gets. We tried to win the Premier League this season. City were a better team. But there's another competition we're in."
City won the Premier League title on the last day of the season with a victory over Brighton. Liverpool, who pushed them all the way, beat Barcelona to make it into the Champions League final have not won the Premier League in 29 years. They are, however, set for their second Champions League final in as many years under Klopp.
Klopp gives injury update ahead of final
On the injury front, Klopp says Naby Keita has no chance of playing but is optimistic that Roberto Firmino will be fine for the game on Saturday in Madrid.
"There is no chance for Naby," the German confirmed. "He is really progressing well so we will see how it works out for him for the Africa Cup of Nations."
"He trained, then we took him out and he will be in training again tomorrow," he said regarding his Brazilian strike. "Everything we saw looked good. He will be fine, I'm sure."
