David Beckham arrived in Miami to check how the progress of his team is going, taking advantage of his stay in the Florida city to visit Central Broward Regional Stadium and give it a look. Beckham later met with the press to provide information about the progress his MLS franchise is making, as well as the profile he has planned for his designated players.

The English star met with Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami, to discuss the problems they have faced related to the construction of the two stadiums they want. It's important to remember that Beckham had to face some issues from the start with the development of Lockhart Stadium and Freedom Park, which are set to launch in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

"We've knocked out every obstacle we've had, with First Tee and the golf issue, I committed to help them transition to a new location. We've done that. We've had a handful of lawsuits, knocked those out. Our next hurdle is getting a lease in front of the City Commission, and I hopefully will have that in the next 45 days and am very optimistic we'll get a 5-0 vote," said Mas.

Designated players

Beckham took the opportunity to talk about the profile he has in mind for his three designated players, explaining he wants them to be players who are at their best and who are recognised for their high level. He also announced that in the course of the next two months he would announce the first of the three.

"We want players who are hungry, who have played at the top level but still want to win. I'm lucky I've played in many different teams, many different countries with many different players and they're actually calling me daily. It's a good problem to have," said Beckham.
