Neymar, who recovered from a knee injury leading into the international friendly, was substituted in the 21st minute and needed to be supported in making his way back to the dressing room.

However, tests revealed Neymar would not recover in time for the major South American tournament, which Brazil will host.

Tite to decide

Brazilan head coach Tite must now decide on which player should be called-up to replace the PSG forward with the likes of Douglas Costa, Lucas Moura and Willian currently being eclipsed by Vinicius as favourite to stake a place in the Brazil squad.

The 18-year-old has been one of the better players for Real Madrid this season, in what was a totally disappointing campaign for the Bernabeu side. Vinicius has pulled on the famous white shirt 31 times this season bagging three goals and providing 12 assists for the LaLiga side.
