Austin FC are one of the new MLS franchises who will be making their debut in the 2021 season, and the Texas-based club are already looking to add a big name to their roster in Mexican star, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández.

Chicharito has been linked with a move to the MLS on a number of occasions, however this time, the interest comes from Austin FC owner, Anthony Precourt, who explained, "Chicharito would be pretty special; I'd be as excited as anyone. That's the type of player we'll target, and we'll give our best pitch. I think he's got a year left on his contract at West Ham and I think other clubs are rumored to be looking at him in MLS. We'll certainly be active in trying to recruit him in the years to come".

The new MLS franchise are not the only ones who are keen on the Mexican striker - Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake and Columbus Crew have shown an interest in the past while Los Angeles FC hope to reunite the player with his international team mate, Carlos Vela, the team's captain.

Wayne Rooney, DC United captain and knows Chicharito from their time together at Manchester United and mentioned that the striker would be an excellent addition to the Washington-based club.

Austin FC will complete the MLS expansion of 27 teams after the inclusion of Inter Miami and Nashville Soccer Club.
