United States had a pending debt with Trinidad and Tobago after the game that left them out of the 2018 Russian World Cup, one of the biggest disappointments the Stars and Stripes squad has suffered.

Gregg Berhalter's side thrashed Trinidad and Tobago at the Gold Cup for its second win in a row of the CONCACAF tournament, with Pulisic being the best player on the field in a game that meant more than a victory as it was also redemption after the World Cup heartache.

From the outset of the game, the USMNT looked to find a way through the defensive formation the Soca Warriors used, which worked for most of the first half; however, Aaron Long opened the lock with a header from a Christian Pulisic assist to give the Americans the lead before the break.

After the restart Trinidad looked for an equaliser but Berhalter's squad wanted to increase its lead, and did so through Gyasi Zardes. From there the US party began with Zardes scoring again just a few minutes later.

Pulisic was the man in charge of finding the openings for the US side, and his creative quality highlighted why Chelsea signed him for a club record transfer fee. The American striker scored his first Gold Cup goal to add a fourth before Arriola and Long struck to give the USMNT a comfortable 6-0 win.

According to MisterChip stats, this was the heaviest loss in the 21st Century for the Soca Warriors and their worst ever result at the Gold Cup, as the Caribbean side hadn't lost by more than six goals since October 8, 2000, when they went down 7-0 against Mexico.
