REAL MADRID

After Ceballos exit, Real Madrid still need to offload 7 players

There is still plenty of work outstanding in the club's sporting department with another 200 million euro needed to be generated from sales.

Update:
After Ceballos exit, Real Madrid still need to sell 7 players

With Real Madrid's big name summer signings (Jovic, Hazard, Mendy) generating global headlines, recent concern at Real Madrid centres on the need to move players on with pressure  to find new clubs for those deemed surplus to requirement by coach Zinedine Zidane. With less than a month to go before the new season kicks-off, the French coach is anxious to work with a block of players he knows will serve him for the 2019-20 season with the club's accountants also anxious to ensure that the finances balance up and that UEFA's Financial Fair Play is adhered to.

To date the club has generated 115 million euro from offloading the likes of: Marcos Llorente, Kovacic, De Tomás, Reguilón, Odegaard, Theo Hernández and Luca Zidane, but with negotiations ongoing to secure Paul Pogba's signature another wave of exits is essential to balance the books and generate at least 200 million from player sales.

Exit door

Yesterday, talks concluded to move Dani Ceballos on loan to Arsenal for the forthcoming campaign and it's hoped that this kick-starts the next wave of Bernabú exits. Keylor Navas is deemed as surplus to requirement but it appears that the Costa Rican has no intention of leaving which will impact of the club needing to find a team for Lunin. Defender Vallejo is another player who seems to have his immediate future resolved and like Ceballos looks set to play in the Premier League next season with Midlands outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers. Question marks still linger over Lucas Vázquez wearing the white shirt next season with the club looking for suitors in the market.

James Rodriguez's future has two potential destinations with talks with Napoli still alive as Atlético Madrid appear ready to offer the player a LaLiga return should talks to move to Serie A flounder.

The attacking trio of Mariano, Mayoral and Gareth Bale are aware they do not fit in with the French manager's plans for the new season and but as yet any negotiation process to move these forwards on has yet to bear fruit. Zidane has made it clear that he wants a squad of 22-23 players and with just over a month to go before the market closes, it promises to be a busy month in the administration department at the Santiago Bernabéu offices.
