Mathias Pogba arrived in the Spanish capital on Saturday to put pen to paper with his new club CD Manchego Ciudad Real who play in Spain's Tercera División (fourth tier of the domestic league system)

Before the 28-year-old was whisked away to Ciudad Real to begin a new chapter in his footballing career, he took time to speak to AS and reminisced about his time with Celta Vigo as a youth player and was happy to answer questions over the ongoing speculation about his brother Paul moving to Real Madrid.

You're back playing in Spain after being at Celta Vigo from 2007-2009...they say it was your happiest time as a player?

Yes, it certainly was. I grew up as both a man and a player and looking back they were some of the best years of my life, both on and off the pitch.

You're poised to sign with CD Manchego Ciudad Real, what attracted you to the club?

I've been plagued by injury recently but this club showed genuine interest in my services and when the opportunity arose, there was little hesitation on my behalf to come and play for the club.

What's the latest news on the speculation surrounding Paul Pogba signing for Real Madrid?

It's all just rumours at present and there's nothing I can do about that. I'm in Spain because I want to be and it has nothing to do with the possibility of my younger brother securing a move.

How are your family dealing with the uncertainty about where Paul will play next season?

We're relaxed about. If Paul moves to Madrid or not... so be it.

Did you see the game against Atleti? Do you feel that your brother is the missing piece for  Real Madrid?

I didn't see the game but am aware of the outcome. I feel my brother could assist with any team, if he comes to Madrid, then it will be to help the team.

Would you like to see your brother remain at United or move to Real Madrid...?

I always want what is best for him. If he feels Real Madrid is the best club for him, then he'll come.
