Sports personalities are the people's heroes from a young age, there's always that athlete you want to grow up to be like, and that's no different for US women's national team star and captain Megan Rapinoe, as she also had that one person she wanted to be like.

Rapinoe was part of the Sneaker Shopping with Complex show, where Joe La Puma asked her about her idols by showing her a picture of little Megan holding a pair of Jordan's 11, shoes she received as a kid.

The US captain's reaction to that was simple as she said, "Michael Jordan was my hero, I had the life-size cardboard, ripped posters from Sports Illustrated pages to pin them to the wall, I just tried to emulate everything he did."

Rapinoe said receiving those shoes was mind-blowing, and with reason, Jordan still is one of the most important athletes for American fans, who want to grow up and be like him, and certainly, Megan did it. She's successful in her sport, becoming a back-to-back world champion this summer.

Stand-out congrats messages

There must be little girls that want to be like her when they grow up, but as of now, she's already an example, and people admire her, but not just people, LeBron James congratulated Rapinoe with a picture of her and her unique celebration pose, which King LeBron titled, "mood," something that for Rapinoe was pretty cool.

Another congratulatory message that stood out for the USWNT captain was the one from President Barack Obama, though she also took the time to mention the absence of the other President.
