MANCHESTER UNITED | REAL MADRID

Sheringham: "If Madrid want Pogba, United should let him go"

The former Manchester United star has urged the club to let Paul Pogba leave, while also advising Gareth Bale "to get out of Real Madrid".

Manchester United are reluctant to sell Paul Pogba, although they are already on the hunt for replacements should the French midfielder eventually end up at Real Madrid.

But former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has urged United and his former team mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stop stalling and let the 26-year-old midfielder go if he doesn't want to be at the club.

“I just don’t think it’s the right fit,” said Sheringham in an interview with talkSport

“I think he’s upset a lot of people with his demeanour and his attitude at Old Trafford.

“It would be best for everyone involved if he left. If Real Madrid want him, whatever they’re paying, let him go. Use the money to go and buy someone who really wants to be playing for Man United, showing how good he is and what their worth is.”

Sheringham: Bale needs to get out of Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to launch a mega bid in excess of 160 million euros for Pogba, but were first hoping to lay off Gareth Bale to free up resources from their wage bill.

Bale was ready to make a move to China, only for Real Madrid president Florentino Peréz to block the deal at the last minute, which has left the player facing a bleak future on the bench at Real Madrid if he doesn't find another club.

And Sheringham has said that the Welsh striker should forget about the big-money offer from China and leave Madrid in favour of a club where he can shine while still in the prime years of his career.

“He’s got to get out of Real Madrid, he’s obviously not wanted there. He’s got three years left on his contract, on massive money, but who cares?” said Sheringham.

“He’s a footballer in the prime of his life, he needs to be playing football. If he spends the next three years sat on the bench, picking up his money, he will be devastated as a professional.

“He needs to get out of there and play football for someone who loves him. He can’t go to China. If he goes to China, he’s a forgotten man.”
