Keylor Navas’ days at Real Madrid look to be numbered, as the Costa Rican goalkeeper, who has already informed the club of his desire to leave, is currently holding talks with Paris Saint Germain.

The French champions had already shown interested in Navas earlier this summer and reached an agreement in principle with the 32-year-old. But the operation came to a halt because the Madrid were not willing to let him go for free as PSG had wanted.

However, Madrid’s position has changed: it is now considering the possibility of opening the door for Navas to leave on a free, thus saving the club the 20 million euros gross salary (10 million per year) it was due to pay him during the final two years of his contract.

Since Leonardo's arrival as PSG sporting director this summer, AC Milan’s Donnarumma has been top of the French club’s list of goalkeeping options. But Milan’s high demands have prompted them to reopen talks with Navas, who will see his net salary jump from 5 million to 7 million euros per year if talks between Madrid and PSG come to fruition.

Real Madrid seek Navas cover

Real Madrid has already started the search for Navas’ replacement should he leave for PSG, with the club considering a move 36-year-old Milan number two Pepe Reina.

However, Reina is not the only candidate. Los Blancos also have their eye on other veteran targets, including Danijel Subasic of Monaco (34 years old); Roma’s Antonio Mirante (36) and Everton’s Maarten Stekelenburg (36).
