Finally the day is here for the fans of the Mexican soccer championship as the Clausura 2020 gets underway this Friday. After a couple of weeks of vacation and pre-season, the 18 teams from the first division will begin the race for the title that is currently held by Monterrey.

Week one will start with two simultameous games on Friday, January 10: Toluca visit Monarcas Morelia (TUDN) and Santos Laguna travel to Tijuana to face Xolos, with both games kicking off at 22:00 ET (FS2).

Let’s not forget that Monarcas Morelia advanced to the semi-finals last season, where they were eliminated by America and Santos Laguna was the top team during the regular season.

Saturdat will also see four games throughout the course of the day.First Cruz Azul host Atlas at 18:00 ET (TUDN), then Chivas will start the season by facing Juarez FC at the Akron stadium at 20:00 (TUDN).

At the same time Queretaro will be visiting Leon and finally to finish the night Tigres will be hosting Atletico San Luis at 22:00 ET (TUDN). Week one will end with the game in Mexico City between Pumas and Pachuca at 13:00 ET (TUDN), with the former looking to to make it up to their fans and by reaching the playoffs this semester after failing last year.

Only 14 out of the 18 teams will see action in week one because Monterrey and America played the final towards the end of December and Liga MX decided to give them an extra week to prepare for this Clausura 2020. As such, America will be making up their week one game against Puebla on February 4 and Monterrey will play against Necaxa the following day.
