Courtois: "It's special to play for Zidane as he was always a role model"
The Belgian goalkeeper spoke to Real Madrid Televisión and maintained: "I'm working no different to the way I did five months ago".
Thibaut Courtois was the special guest on the Real Madrid Conecta show on Real Madrid Television. The keeper looked back at key moments in his career and talked about the latest situation at Real Madrid, Zidane, Kobe Bryant's death and winning the Spanish Super Cup.
How are things shaping up in 2020
"Well, we've been winning games recently and also keeping clean sheets. The opening game of the year against Getafe was good and I recall making some important saves and we ran out 0-3 winners. That gave us a boost of confidence ahead of the Super Cup".
Playing with Eden Hazard
"Eden is a good humoured guy and always wears a smile and is always anxious to play, we get on really well. I hope he is back in action soon as he's instrumental for us in winning games".
Winning titles with Real Madrid
"Obviously I want to win everything and that's always out intention. Last season was not so good and that has driven us to push for titles this season. We've already won the first cup of the season (Super Cup) and want to advance in the Copa del Rey and the return of the Champions League is looming on the horizon....we're very excited".
Zidane
"He's very special and I recall watching him play when I was a kid and he was always a role model for many kids my age and to have him as our coach is rather special".
The keeper with the least amount of goals conceded in the top 5 European leagues
"I wasn't aware of that. It's not just the merit of the goalkeeper as there are 11 players on the pitch and if we all play with a defensive focus than we're heard to break down and keeping a clean sheet is always key to securing a win".
19 game unbeaten run
"I'm sure that you'll find that there are at least 11 or 12 with a clean sheet in that grouping. Staying focused and intensity are the keys to this situation and this is paying off".
What do you do when you are not training?
"When the kids are here, I spend time with them. I also enjoy watching films and spend time with my Play Station. I also like to follow Formula 1 and the NBA".
Kobe Bryant's death
"I came in from the warm-up in Valladolid and Lucas told me the news and I couldn't believe it. I started watching the LA Lakers when Shaquille and Kobe Bryant were playing. Everyone will remember him as a legend and his important role in society".
