"Modric is mentally preparing to be at Real Madrid next season"
Pedja Mijatovic spoke to El Larguero and said Modric is mentally preparing to be at Madrid next season and he also spoke about Bale's situation at the club.
Pedja Mijatovic says Luka Modric is focusing on playing at Real Madrid until 2021. On 'El Larguero', the former Madrid player also gave his opinion about Bale, and Zinedine Zidane's new version of the team.
"I see him at Madrid," said Mijatovic. "He has another year on his contract, I have spoken with him and he is mentally preparing to be at Madrid next year."
Gareth Bale has been in and out of Zidane's side in recent months and Mijatovic says it surprises him that the Welsh man has not been called into the squad when he is fit. "It surprised me that Bale isn't in the squad."
"Bale is a player I've always liked as a footballer, but Zidane is counting on him. I have to be prudent with what I say about Bale because I said some things a few months ago and look at the commotion is caused but I think the team is functioning well without him," he said.
Mijatovic was the one who first said the "Wales, Golf and then Madrid" line that got picked up and turned into a meme and culminate with Bale holding a Wales flag after their qualification to Euro 2020 with those words: "Wales, golf, Madrid!"
