BETIS 2-3 BARCELONA
Barcelona: 1x1 player ratings - De Jong, Messi shine; bad night for Umtiti, S. Roberto
Frenkie De Jong played arguably his best game for Barcelona and scored a wonderful goal, while Messi made three assists in the 3-2 win over Betis.
Ter Stegen: Had four shots aimed at his goal. Two ended up in the net and the other two he stopped with difficulty. It must be noted that one of the goals was a penalty, but in the second goal he could have done better to stop Fekir’s shot – 6
Semedo: The Portuguese full back had a remarkable game, with a lot of presence on the wing band and always looking to attack – 8
Umtiti: Horrible, slow and scattered. Awful game for the Frenchman – 5
Lenglet: Apart from the goal that he scored with his head that gave Barca the three points, he had to work extra hard in defence to make up for the absolute shocking display by his compatriot. He gave away the penalty and was also sent off for a rather innocent second yellow – 7
Junior: Decent display from the former Betis man, both in defence and attack – 7
Sergio Busquets: Outstanding in all facets and also managed a goal – 8
De Jong: A masterclass from the young Dutchman, who also got on the scoresheet with an extraordinary goal – 9
Vidal: Decent game, although he lost the ball in the middle of the park that ended up leading to Fekir’s goal. He held his own for his 56 minutes in the field – 7
Sergi Roberto: Awful. One of his worst matches as a Blaugrana. It’s good to run and give everything in every play, but a minimum of quality is also needed to avoid losing so many balls – 5
Messi: No goal for Messi but he did manage three assists. A standard exhibition from the Argentine genius – 9
Griezmann: Another poor performance. It’s not worth saying that he puts in the work overall and is a great team player. He was signed to do more than that he is not meeting expectations. His only contribution was a great assist between the lines to Messi, which the Argentine missed – 6
Subs:
Alba: His presence gave a boost down the left wing and he combined well with Messi.
Arthur: He had more than one chance to finish the game, but nothing came of it.
Rakitic: Was only on the field for a few minutes and had no time to make an impact.
