Bayern Munich's Thiago slams "irresponsible" Bundesliga
"This is crazy. Please stop fooling around and land on reality. Let's be honest, there are much more important priorities than any sport." stated the Bayern player on Twitter.
Bayern Munich's Thiago Alcantara has lashed out at the Bundesliga after the German governing body stated that this weekend's round of fixtures will go ahead, albeit behind closed doors.
Bayern are set to travel to the German capital to face Union Berlin and having seen the majority of European leagues top flight games cancelled as a reaction to the Covid-19 virus, the DFL earlier on Friday stated that both Bundesliga I and II would be halted as of Tuesday which prompted the Spanish international to take to Twitter to vent his frustration at the move.
"This is crazy. Please stop fooling around and land on reality. Let's be honest, there are much more important priorities than any sport."
Bayern's director general Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, stated: "We have no cases of players having tested positive for coronavirus, unlike the Premier or in F1 and we are being responsible with the issue. Bayern stated that they expected all the club employees to show up for work despite the increased cases of positive Covid-19 patients in Germany.
* At 16:13 (CET) the Bundesliga German Twitter account stated that coronavirus concerns had led to the forthcoming round of games to be suspended.
