Real Madrid: Anguissa emerges as Pogba, Camavinga alternative
The Fulham and Cameroon midfielder has been linked with a move to the Bernabéu when his loan deal at Villarreal expires in the summer.
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa has refused to rule out speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but he has also not flatly denied any contact between his agent and Zinedine Zidane's side, who are casting their net around for a central midfielder and have been credited with an interest in the Cameroon international as a potential alternative to Manchester United's Paul Poba and Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Anguissa, 24, has spent the season on loan at Villarreal from Fulham and so boasts LaLiga experience and he fits the profile of what Zidane is looking for this summer: an all-rounder in midfield with a decent amount of defensive nous to provide some relief for the over-worked Casemiro and a little extra drive between the penalty areas. The former Marseille midfielder, who has been capped 24 times by his country, is under contract at the Championship club until 2023 but has denied any knowledge of an imminent deal with Madrid.
Anguissa on Real Madrid: "I don't know anything"
Anguissa has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season and was named in LaLiga's breakout XI when the 2019-20 campaign was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
