New York has experienced several days of chaos since the Black Lives Matter protests started last week over the death of George Floyd. While some are peacefully protesting others have taken advantage of the situation by looking for stores around the city.

In an effort to control the chaos, Gov. of New York Andrew Cuomo issued curfew hours from 23:00 to 05:00. Those hours have changed after people raided Midtown Manhattan.

Now New York City will extend its curfew, now beginning at 20:00, through at least Sunday 7 June, said today major de Blasio. This change also comes as president Donald Trump criticized the Gov. and the Mayor for having such a late curfew and blaming them for the chaos in the city for the second night in a row.

"We will not tolerate violence of any kind. We will not tolerate attacks on police officers. We will not tolerate hatred being created," de Blasio said at a press conference.

More than thirty cities across the country have implemented curfews since the riots started during the weekend following the continuous demonstrations following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody on 25 May. Only one officer of the four caught on video of the incident has been criminally charged, fueling the nationwide unrest.
