Zidane: Real Madrid coach's pre-Granada LaLiga press conference
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane looked ahead to the LaLiga leaders' matchday 36 clash with Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes on Monday.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane spoke to the media on the eve of Monday's LaLiga clash with Granada - a match which will see the leaders move to within one win of the title if they claim all three points at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes.
Zidane's pre-Granada press conference:
Team’s physical and mental state:
“It’s the last week [of the league season] and there are three games to go. It’s the toughest and most important week. Everyone’s got something at stake and we’re going to give our all tomorrow to come away with a result.”
Will Barcelona be worthy winners if they take the title?
“Whoever has the most points at the end of the season will be.”
18 clean sheets in LaLiga so far this season:
“A team is all about balance. We know we’re a good side and I’m pleased for [goalkeeper Thibaut] Courtois and the rest of the team. They’re fighting and they’re battling, and that’s the most important thing.”
Will Eden Hazard start?
“We’ll see tomorrow. He’s available and that’s the most important thing.”
Real Madrid earning a reputation as a goal-shy team:
“I’m not bothered or surprised by what people say. Our job is to show how good we are. Everyone’s going to have their opinion. This is the biggest club in the history of the game, so that’s not going to change.”
Fitness coach Grégory Dupont, a Zidane-backed appointment:
“He’s a very good fitness coach. Very good at his job.”
Potential Champions League rivals if Real Madrid beat Manchester City:
“All our energies are focused on tomorrow’s game.”
Claims that referees are favouring Real Madrid:
“Everyone has the right to their opinion and I won’t be drawn on what people say. We do our job on the pitch and the most important thing to me is the effort the players put in every day.”
Is it the end of the road for James Rodríguez?
“He’s important and he’s our player. He turns 29 today and I wish him a happy birthday. It’s true that some are playing more than others, but I’m not going to disregard any of my players. Everyone contributes something to the team. Every player I have is useful to me.”
“He was a player I wanted and agreed with the club to sign. He’s young and talented, but you can’t compare him with Marcelo. I’m very happy he’s a part of our squad.”
