Courtois and Benzema receive LaLiga player of the month awards
Karim Benzema received the award for being LaLiga player of the month for June while Thibaut Courtois picked up the same award for January.
Two individual awards for the recently-crowned LaLiga champions - Thibaut Courtois and Karim Benzema. The French striker was presented with the Player of the Month award for June while the goalkeeper finally received his award, for being the best player in LaLiga Santander in January but the presentation was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Benzema took part in five games last month after the competition resumed. He scored three goals (two against Valencia and one against Real Sociedad) and created another one for a team mate - a wnderful backheel assist for Casemiro to score in the game against Espanyol at RCDE Stadium. Benzema was also involved in the build-up move which was finished off by Sergio Ramos in the 3-1 win over Eibar.
Courtois conceded on goal in LaLiga in January
Courtois meanwhile, was presented with the trophy he should have received at the start of the year. During the whole month of January, the keeper let in just one goal - against Sevilla, and kepy clean sheets in Madrid's meetings with Getafe and Valladolid.
