AS has learned that Inter and Juventus have made contact with the Brazilian but they cannot can't afford €8M net salary. Marcelo has been willing to listen to offers this time round.

Marcelo, who will turn 33 on May 12, has been tempted in recent days by both offers made by Juventus and Inter. As AS has learned, both clubs contacted the player's representatives regarding possible negotiations for a move to Serie A. Marcelo is, along with Sergio Ramos, the other Real Madrid player with the most titles won (22), and has played 58 times for Brazil.

Chance to play with Cristiano Ronaldo

The Brazilian has lost out at left-back to Ferland Mendy, but is priced at an affordable €16m on Transfermarkt.com, however his salary is the issue for the Italian giants. At Juve, he could have been reunited with his friend Cristiano Ronaldo, and Inter have already tested the waters on several occasions.

Marcelo, unlike in previous years, has been willing to listen to offers, as his place in the starting eleven is no longer guaranteed. The 32-year-old, who has two years left on his contract with Madrid, knows that the new season is about to begin, and he'll more than likely feature more as a substitute than a starter, given that Mendy finished the last league campaign as the regular starter, in a very solid defensive unit, at left-back.

Mendy first choice left-back

Mendy is Zidane's first choice for the position, not only out of form, but for the price Los Blancos paid for his services - €48 million from Lyon last year. Although Zidane has always supported and believed in Marcelo, the difference in age and physical condition edges the Frenchman in front.

Marcelo's high salary makes it very difficult for a move to happen during this summer transfer window. Madrid have let several players go, including James Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez and Achraf Hakimi. Madrid fans can expect to see Marcelo continue in La Liga for the coming campaign, adding to his 509 appearances, 38 goals and 95 assists.
