Real Madrid: Zidane reportedly makes Aouar contact
The French sports daily says the Real Madrid boss has spoken to the Lyon midfielder several times and is keen for Los Blancos to sign him.
Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in Lyon starlet Houssem Aouar, according to a report in France.
Zidane wants Aouar at Real Madrid, says L'Équipe
L’Équipe says Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane, who is a firm admirer of the midfielder, has asked Bernabéu president Florentino Pérez to sign the 22-year-old and has now held a number of telephone conversations with the player.
However, L’Équipe adds that an Aouar transfer to Madrid may be likelier to happen next summer, given the LaLiga club’s current lack of transfer funds as a result of the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Maiden France call-up for Lyon youngster
Lyon youth product Aouar has scored 24 goals in 140 appearances for the Ligue 1 club since making his first-team debut in 2017. He received his first France call-up in August, only to be forced to withdraw from the squad after testing positive for Covid-19.
Ahead of France's October internationals against Ukraine, Portugal and Croatia, however, Les Bleus' boss Didier Deschamps this week again included him in his squad.
Aouar strongly linked with Arsenal switch
Aouar has also been heavily tipped for a move to Premier League club Arsenal this summer.
