Henry Martín enters Club América’s top scorer list of all time

Henry Martín surpasses Raúl Jiménez and Iván Zamorano in Club America’s list of top scorers of all times. The striker has 39 goals after scoring against León.

Henry Martín enters Club América’s top scorer list of all time

Henry Martín has entered the prestigious list of Club América’s top scorers of all time. The 27-year-old striker scored against León in matchday 14 of the 2020 Guardianes tournament and even though Club América lost 3-2, Martín has something to be happy about.

The Mexican striker reached his sixth goal of the tournament and since joining Club América in 2018 he has reached 39 goals in 111 appearances. Martín has the same amount of goals as Luis García and has surpassed Iván Zamorano and Raúl Jiménez who both scored 38 goals during their time in Coapa.

Zamorano’s legacy in América

The Chilean striker played 78 games in Coapa and he scored 38 goals. Iván Zamorano scored 33 times in the Liga MX and 5 in the previous phase of the Copa Libertadores. The teams that suffered suffered the most with Zamorano were Santos, Atlante, Atlas, Chivas and Veracruz. His most known goal was in the final of the 2002 summer tournament against Necaxa, which eventually gave Club América the title.

Raúl Jiménez legacy in Copa

The 29-year-old striker had 104 appearances with Club América before leaving to Atlético de Madrid. Raúl Jiménez scored 36 goals in Liga MX and 2 in the Concacaf Champions League. The majority of goals were against Santos, Chivas, Puebla, Atlante and Morelia. He was vital for América in the 2013 Clausura because his goals in playoffs against Pumas and Monterrey helped the team win the title that year.

What is next for Martín

Henry Martín is currently in the fifth place of the topscorers of the 2020 Guardianes tournament and he has three more games to climb up positions. Club América will face Atlas on 24 October, Tigres on 1 November and Juárez on 6 November.
