After opening their qualifying campaign with wins over Ecuador and Bolivia, the Argentines were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Paraguay last time out, falling behind to Ángel Romero’s penalty before Nicolás González's equaliser earned Lionel Scaloni’s men a point.

That result leaves the Albiceleste second in South America’s 10-team qualification group, two points behind leaders Brazil.

Meanwhile, Peru are yet to register a win in their bid to reach their sixth World Cup finals, having drawn with Paraguay and lost to Brazil and Chile.

Coached by former Argentina international Ricardo Gareca, the Peruvians are currently eighth, five points off an automatic qualification spot.
